Establishing a Good Relationship with Your A/C Repair Company – More Important Than You Think

Nothing is more frustrating than having your air conditioning unit go down in the middle of the summer. Though this may sound contrite, it is important to establish a good relationship with your air conditioning company.

At American Heritage Air, we want to know and understand our customers as well as we understand their HVAC systems. We don’t want to grow so much that the private equity guys buy us out and have no idea who our customers are and the problems they have been facing with their systems. We want to establish relationships with our customers and understand the history of their air conditioning and heating systems.

For instance, have we been out in the past two years and replaced a capacitor more than once? How old are the units? Are you keeping up with filter replacement and changing out HVAC UV bulb lights before flu/COVID season?

The DFW Metroplex population has exploded over the past 15 years. Everywhere you turn around, you see new construction gaining ground and farms turning into side-by-side houses. Simply put- there are not enough AC companies to service the growing population. I read crazy reviews all of the time about techs misdiagnosing HVAC systems or not recognizing simple problems.

The cost of a new HVAC system has almost doubled in price over the past three years. There are not enough qualified air conditioning repair technicians, and the experienced ones have gone the way of the Last of the Mohicans.

New HVAC techs are being pushed out of HVAC schools, and big box companies have no choice but to hire newbies right out of school because the hiring pool has become so small. In contrast, American Heritage Air technicians have at least five years of experience as service HVAC technicians and are NATE Certified.

I will never forget a story I heard from one of my customers. It was in the heat of the summer, and he called a large well well-known AC company he had seen on a TV commercial. The tech arrived late, which the homeowner understood because it was in the middle of the summer. The homeowner showed the AC technician to the outside unit in the back yard. The tech put down a plastic grocery-type bag filled with new tools and asked the homeowner for scissors. The tech began to take the plastic off the tools and load them into the new tool bag. The homeowners stood in disbelief. It took that tech over 4 hours to replace a simple capacitor.

At American Heritage Air, you can rest assured that when air conditioning tech is sent to your home, they are NATE certified, drug tested, and, most importantly, experienced. That is our promise to our customers, and it is why they trust us with their family’s comfort and safety. Give us a call at (972) 559-4477 if you need a service technician you can trust!
